Née à Seattle, Erika Adams, est une artiste multidisciplinaire avec une spécialisation en estampe. Elle détient un baccalauréat en art et anthropologie du UC Santa Cruz, et une maîtrise en art du University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. Son projet de résidence est une série d’estampes en relation avec un projet et une performance présentés à la galerie FOFA à Montréal. Avec un mélange de techniques tels que poinçonner et couper le papier, elle fait référence aux conversations qu’elle a eues avec les passants concernant son exposition, la vie ou toute autre chose. Inspiré de phrases ou de mots et des historiques complexes, ce travail est témoin de moments où le langage est seulement une partie de notre communication.

Erika Adams earned a BA in both Art and Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz, an MFA from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque and studied at the Tamarind Institute where she became a Master Printer. Her studio practice explores how meaning is embedded in text and form and is inspired by insect societies, flocks of birds, wrestlers, her familial vernacular, poetry and everyday interactions. Adams’s work has been shown at numerous national and international exhibitions. She was an artist in residence at the Hall Farm Center for the Arts, Vermont Studio Center, Frans Masereel Center in Belgium, Penland School of Craft and Djerassi. She currently teaches at Concordia University in Montreal.
"My project at Atelier Imago begins with series of print and paper pieces related to the work and performance recently completed at the FOFA Gallery in Montreal, Quebec. Utlizing various printmaking techniques, as well as cut and hole punched paper, I am drawing on the conversations that occurred as part of a performative action in the FOFA space; inviting passers by into the vitrine, I welcomed them to talk to me about the show, art, life or anything else. Inspired by words and phrases and also by the earnest attempts made to understand complicated histories, the print and paper pieces will capture moments when language is only part of how we communicate.''
